Taller Batán is a woodworking studio based in Mexico City, founded in 2020 by Sebastián Cappiello (Caracas, 1998), Marco Cordero (Mexico City, 1999), and Emilio Torres (Mexico City, 1999).
Rooted in an ecological project located within the pine-oak forests of Donato Guerra, Mexico, their practice begins with the responsible sourcing and recovery of wood. They take pride in accompanying each piece throughout its entire journey: from tree to timber, and ultimately to its final form.
Taller Batán researches, designs, and handcrafts every piece in its own workshop. Often carved from a single block of wood, their works approach the material from a sculptural perspective, resulting in functional objects with a strong, monolithic presence.
Above all, Taller Batán is a celebration of wood.
